Hi, Wonder if anyone can help.
Trying to Find out the parents of Jessie Blackley Calder Born 1915 in Greenock (564/01 0826).
Jessie married Charles W S Metcalfe in Greenock 1938. (564/01 0163).
I have tried Scotlands People, but there are no images available for either birth or marriage entry.
From speaking to the family Jessie fathers name could be James and mother possibly Jessie Blackley but these are unconfirmed. It is also thought that one of the parents may have been from Dundee area but again unconfirmed. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Regards Mark.

You will need to purchase a copy of her birth cert to get her parents names - images under 100yrs old are not viewable

Marriages less than 75yrs old are not viewable

(Can't tell if Calder or Blackley is the maiden surname)

Would have been about 40 in 1915

Added - If you live in Greenock you might want to visit the local Registrars and ask to copy down the
details of that 1915 birth or 1938 marriage
Dundee Registrars charged me £5 to copy the details of a marriage but it was cheaper than getting
the certificate

Carol, Im aware I can purchase the document but Im exporing the family tree for someone else so that would be quite expensive.
Ev the name Janet was mentioned as a possible alternative so that bit of info is very interesting. I will try and check this out further.
Wasnt aware that you may be allowed copy down details of parents. I maybe give that a go.

I would go for the marriage(Unless you are prepared to wait 2 years for SP catch up)
I think you are fairly certain it is the correct certificate and it should give you both sets of parents

It might be a good idea to make up a sheet of paper before you go to the Registrars
It's easy to mix up details or miss something important

Example -
Date , where married , according to the Church of ?
Groom , Occupation , Age , Address , Father(Occupation) , Mother(Maiden Surname) (Are Deceased ?)
Bridegroom , etc.
Witnesses ?

Ill make up a wee word doc with all the possible fields on it that I can fill out.
just wondering, If I go to the Mitchell library, do you get access to more docs that arent available online.
I was planning a wee trip to check out some things for my own tree anyway.
