Inistiogue Parish Baptism Record Help
« on: Saturday 14 April 12 22:09 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I've located a baptismal record that I think is the ancestor I've been searching for and it reads:

Name: Mary Moor
Date of Baptism 25-Apr-1839
Address: Clonany
Parish/District: Inistiogue
County Co. Kilkenny
Denomination: Roman Catholic
Etc.
Notes: Address given as the parish of Clonany

I've been searching for this family for a long time and only reference to location I've ever found is Queens County on census records later.

My question is, Clonany. Is this the family's address at the time of the birth? Where is this? Could this be referring to Clonnany Portarlington, County Laois?  I'm not sure what my next step would be in order to track the parents from this birth backward. Any tips would be very much appreciated! :)

There is a Parish of Clonmany in Donegal but I think you first instinct is correct.
The Applotment books lists a townland as Clonany in Queens.
(shrink a link won't work for me)

It's not a parish of course but the priest may not have known that.
