Samuel Jardine/Kerr
« on: Monday 16 April 12 02:56 BST (UK) »
I have 2 Samuel Jardine births -1815 and 1818 - to Joseph Jardine and Janet Kerr.

The second one moved to Canada and died there.

What I have been unable to do is make any Samuel connection in either the Kerr or Jardine family.

Does anyone have Samuel Jardine or Kerr in their tree?

I still live in hope of finding out who Joseph Jardine's parents were.

It might be worth a visit to the Lockerbie Library. Nothing to lose.

I was the Lockerbie Library who found the info on Joseph's departure to Canada from Hayhill.

Fingers crossed they can help again. Will let you know.

Have been to the Lockerbie Libray.

Went  through the Records of Tundergarth Parish 1777/1870

Found  the  Samuel JARDINE b. May 19 1815  to Joseph Jardine Hayhill but, No mention of Joseph being a weaver. The other Samuel b. 1818 has his father Joseph as a weaver, as with all his other children.  So, possibly the 1815 one wasn’t your Josephs. Still cant make the connection with the name Samuel.

There is not a son Joseph anywhere. There is the infant child born to Joseph and interred Tundergarth 28/12 1795.

Also found these - James son of James JARDINE 1794, Hayhill
Margaret daughter of  James JARDINE joiner Hayhill  March 2 1816
Jane daughter b. April  6 1810  to Thomas JARDINE weaver, Hayhill

It sounds like you got this from the same book I got it from.

I will look at it again, as we may be able to trace Joseph's parents by looking at the others at Hayhill. I think the James ans Thomas would have to be his brothers.

Yes, it would be the same book.

The information we got from Lockerbie regarding Josephs departure dates to Canada, stated there were two families at Hayhill.

I would think  Thomas the weaver could be Joseph's brother - he named a son Thomas.

Wondering about the Mary Jardine aged 72 Hayhill - buried Tundergarth  6 July 1804. She would have been born abt.1732.(Got this info from Tundergarth OPR's death & burial index). She could be the mother or even Joseph's father sister.

Will do some more re-search.

Yes, I have her and that was what I was suggesting we look at. I think all of them at Hayhill are related.

She may have a headstone at Tundergarth.

Yes, I would suspect the are related. It's just making the connection :-\

Can feel a trip to the Tundergarth cemetery coming on, soon.
