Marriage of parents in NSW
1403/1913
GORDON Peter J
BIRCH Ivy C
District Dubbo

An official transcript of that NSW marriage cert will give you the information that both the bride and the groom provided re their respective parents (eg father/s full name, occupation, if deceased etc), as well as the information about themselves and lots of other details too ....

Just noted your chat re Peter James Gordon. Although this is not my family I have been doing a little research on the Gordons as they are related to my friends tree. Her grandmother married John D Gordon who is the father of peter George Gordon born in Carcoar in 1914. The peter James in Carcoar who married Ivy Church was born in Euroa in 1881 and his father peter was born in Domoch Scotland in 1844. His wife was Phoebe Williams born in 1847 in Hereford West Pembrokeshire. As this is not my line I have not confirmed with sources. Hope this helps.
Pat

Just chipping in.  I think Pheobe's birth may be this one.  As far as I know there is no Hereford West in Pembrokeshire but there is Haverford West.

Free BMD has this birth
Births June qr 1848
Phebe (sic) Thomas WILLIAMS, registered at Haverfordwest, Vol 26 p734

Phoebe's death index entry (from Victoria BMDs)

1924 #9658
Phoebe GORDON, died Euroa, aged 77
Parents:  James WILLIAMS, Cecelia (MORGAN)

So this looks to be her in the 1851 census
At 33 Brown? St, Llangynwyd, Glamorgan - all born Haverfordwest except the two youngest
James Williams   29, engine feeder?
Cecilia Williams   30
Mary Williams   10
Elizabeth Williams   8
Pheby Williams   6
Josephus Williams   4
John Williams   2, b Llangynwyd
James Williams   1 Mo, b Llangynwyd
(Many of the other men living nearby are mine workers, so I suspect James' occupation is to do with mining)

1861 Wales Census, still in Llangynwyd, now at Cavan/Canon? Row

Cecilia Williams   41, widow, housekeeper, b Malling Castle (Pembrokeshire)
Mary Williams   20, working in iron works, b Lleangdon?? (Pembrokeshire)
Phebe Williams   17, working in iron works, b Freystrop (Pembrokeshire) (in the registration district for Haverford West)
Joseph Williams   14, working at the forge, b Roach (Roach, Pembrokeshire)
John Williams   12, scholar,b Llangynwyd
James Williams   10, scholar, b Llangynwyd
Thomas Williams 7, scholar, b Llangynwyd

The passenger list for Queen of the South arr Port Philip, March 1868, from Liverpool.
shows these two next to each other on the list.
Mary WILLIAMS, 24 general servant
Phoebe WILLIAMS, 21, general servant

Two possible burials for Phoebe's father - both from National Burial Index For England & Wales

James WILLIAMS, 38
Buried: 05 May 1853, at St Cynwyd Anglican church, Llangynwyd, Glamorganshire, Wales
Burial date
James WILLIAMS, 31
Buried: 30 Aug 1853, at St Cynwyd Anglican church, Llangynwyd, Glamorganshire, Wales

Possibly the second of these as his age in 1851 is given as 29.

Perhaps her mother's burial - but the age is out!
Cecilia WILLIAMS, 67
Buried: 03 Apr 1876 at St Cynwyd Anglican church, Llangynwyd, Glamorganshire, Wales
