This is what I find so incredible about this site - that there are so many valuable, helpful and thoroughly interesting posts...
So, Imber and Chester, that is fairly compelling evidence that Samuel MCMASTER's memorial might well be the one in Blaydon.  But I will indeed get in contact with the Northumberland Fusiliers archives.
And, Jos, thanks for those wonderfully clear photos and your information about Scilly Banks.
