In my family tree I have a Lionel George Butler, born July 1897 in Lambeth.

In 1904 he married a Blanche Emily Porter.

I wonder if any one could please look up the entry for Lionel George Butler who appears to have gone to Canada 1895-1956 and then married in Ontario 1801-1928 to ascertain if its 'my' Lionel George Butler or not.

If you can be of help then thank you very much.

Rosie

Well, yes, that's quite obvious.  He is, however, the Lionel George Butler who crossed the border.  And you could have discovered that for yourself at FamilySearch.

No problem.  It was no special bother since I happened to have that particular batch of FamilySearch records open at the time.  But it is worth getting to know the FamilySearch site and the records they have available for free.  There's a lot of information there, especially for the United States.

If I have the correct person it looks like he divorced Blanche and then married Alice Elizabeth March in 1910.
(Search on :
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/search.asp
with keywords: Blanche Emily Butler).

He died in WW1 1917. Have a look on:

OOPS! I should have checked a little more carefully. Sorry!

Obviously the divorce is your fellow, but the other refs are for (Lionel) the son of Leonard and Annie Butler.
