I believe I am related to this same John Burt. This would be my grandmother's, mother's side of the family. William Austin Burt is my 5th great-grandfather. There is an Andrew Burt born in the 1800s whom my father received his middle name. My great-grandmother Helen Burt came from Dunfermline.

Where was William Austin Burt born? Do you have his ancestry going back to dunfermline? My sister just got back from visiting Scotland. She'd been interested in learning this too!

Thanks,
Jan

William Austin Burt was born in Tauton, MA USA. The family had a farm, they were about to lose their land and moved to New York. From there William moved to Michigan. William's father was Alvin Burt and mother Wealthy Burt. William was married to Phoebe. They had 3 sons. Alvin's father was George.  George's father was Abel, son of Abel, son of Richard the II.

My great-grandmother Helen Burt, her father was Andrew. They came from Dunfirmline, Fife Scotland.

at one point did a great grandfather marry a Burt? I can't seem to figure this out. Was Richard Burt II married in MA?

I am related to this John Burt as well.  Many years ago,  I gathered every Burt record found in  set of parish records from 1653 through 1811. I had intended to continue through 1848, when my third great grandfather left Scotland but as my family grew, I finally had to set the research aside. Now I  am an empty nester  and I am finally putting that work into a spreadsheet.

So ... if you are a BURT in Utah, or
If you are a BURT from Dunfermline or even Clackmannanshire,

I would to connect.
Utah Burts: John Davidson Burt, Brigham City, &
Andrew Hill Burt, Salt Lake City

Burts of Dunfermline, 1655-18
John Burt & Agnes Whyt (various spellings)
Paterson: Dunfermline and Clackmannanshire

Along with Hill, Cook, Wilson, Hunter, Sharp
Stevenson, Rankin,
