I was thinking that the George aged 50 may have been the brother of my Janet Kerr of Rosebank, with George and Christina being the parents.


If Francis was related he would be the son of George aged 50.

Jamjar, going back to the census extract you posted of George Kerr (aged 50), I followed it through as per below and came up with a wife for George.

1851 Irish Street,
Elizabeth Kerr (29) Dressmaker
Jesse Kerr 25 Bonnet Maker

1861 42 Irish Street
Elizabeth Kerr 40 Miliner
Jessie Kerr 36 Miliner

1871 89 Irish Street
Elizabeth Kerr 50 formerly miliner
Jessie Kerr 49
Thomas G Allen Lodger

I then found Elizabeth's death record on Scotland's People as
D 9 Mar 1879
F George Kerr Cabinet maker (Master)
M Christina ? (see picture attached - can you make out the maiden surname?)
Witness John Kerr Brother

Does this give you anything to work backward from yourself?

Looking closer, I think it's Christina McKinnel... does that name feature in your research at all?
