I hope I am not too late to join this discussion!  I am a direct Australian descendant of this Thomas Moss & was thrilled to learn the names of his parents and sister!  Thank you to everyone who contributed because I thought I'd hit a brick wall with my family tree research :)

Yenram is new to RC and is learning how to use the site, so has asked me to post this info for her:

Merry christmas from australia!
yHi! ThanQ for replying to my post about my great great grandfather Thomas Moss.  I am struggling to work out how to post and reply.    My line is Thomas Moss married Mary Ann HAYDEN 1850 in Melbourne Australia. The HAYDEN family originated in Devonshire England. Thomas &Mary Ann's son William Moss married Emma Louisa RICE. Their daughter Violet ( my grandmother ) married Walter Marney.  If you can help me add these names I would be great ful.  Kind regards Pam.

Hello,

I believe am a descendant of the Thomas Moss you refer to and have a cutting from the Yorkshire Gazette regarding his arrest and transportation in 1832.

My information is that he did get his ticket of leave, married and had an extensive family. However research (by others - detailed in an associated family book) suggest that Moss actually changed his name to Phillips.

Are you still following this line?

Hi Baldbill.   We must be related!   I am always researching my family.   I don't think he changed his name to Phillips.   Mary Ann Hayden married twice.  Are u in Australia?
