I’ve accessed the original and I’m pretty sure the word is ‘Decd.’ - Deceased. The bit at the end is the date ‘25.10.55’ and what’s left in the middle is the port of death ‘Cop.’[?]

Thank you but oh dear, that doesn't tie up with what I suspect was his death in July 1858. Back to the drawing board!
