Riley family in dublin
« on: Sunday 07 November 10 11:22 GMT (UK) »
The fist record of the familys is the 1861 census when Patrick (45 years) wife Elizabeth (44 years) with son Thomas, a cooper and daughter Ellen, a dress maker. All living at 48 Johson Street, Liverpool and all born Ireland. In subsequent censuses the children say they were born in England but I cannot trace births.
There is no trace of Patrick or Elizabeth in 1871 census but 1881 has Patrick and Elizabeth living ay 47 Benledi Street, Liverpool. ( He mysteriously is 58 she 64) both born Ireland.
On 1st November 1870 Thomas married Elizabeth West in St Peter's Church, Dublin. Patrick was not a witness. The address on the marriage cert seems to be an accommodation address. A son Thomas Joseph the second was bron in Dublin in 1880.
Patrick and Elizabeth do not appear in 1841,1851 or census's susequent to 1881(at least not in Liverpool),
An explanation could be that they moved (back?) to Dublin in the 1870's
I cannot trace birth or deaths of Patick or Elizabeth .
Can anyone trace Patrick or Elizabeth people in Dublin?

The Co Down connection was a false lead hence my enquiry on the Dublin board.

Is this the marriage you mentioned ?

Marriage of Thomas Joseph Riley & Isabella West
Parish is St. Peter's Church of Ireland

Bride's name is Isabella rather the Elizabeth ..

I think the addresses on the transcript are incorrect, and the groom's has been mis-transcribed and/or mis-recorded... I dont know of anywhere named Dengillo St. Maybe it should have read Denzille St ?
The street is partially in the (civil) parish of St. Peter's, and runs from Holles St to Hamilton Row.

Bride's address is more difficult to read - maybe something like James's place ?

I am looking for the above who was born in 1879 in Dublin but then moved back to Liverpool where he is listed in the 1911 census,He was cooper. Wife's name Ethel Gertrude. He had a son of the same name born 1899 in Nottingham. I believe at some date after 1911 the family moved back to Dublin where TJR the elder  was said to be a cooper in the Guinness brewery. However their web site has no record of them. I have not been able to trace a death in Dublin for TJR the elder or his wife Gertrude. I have also looked for a marriage of the younger TJR but with no luck.
Can anyone help me with this or point me in the right direction

Hi 'ril'

Just a few q's

Have you found the family on the 1901 census ?

Were they in England or Ireland in 1901 ?

Do you have the marriage of Thomas & Ethel Gertrude ? A father's name would be handy !

Do you have the birth for Thomas in 1899 in Nottingham ? Ethel's maiden name would be handy !

Any extra info will help !
