Page Family - Woolpit
« on: Wednesday 16 May 12 20:54 BST (UK) »
My friend is researching her Page family who appear to have lived in Woolpit for at least a couple of hundred years. Samuel Page, her gt gt grandfather, being the landlord of the Swan Inn for a number of years in 1800's. While visiting the local church she noticed that many of the vicars bore the same Page surname. Several Page's had been vicars going back at least a couple of hundred years.

I would be grateful if someone could advise if there is a list available to view of serving vicars at different parishes and would also love to hear from anyone who is researching the same family.

Thanks in anticipation.

I found this by searching http://books.google.co.uk (note no www):-
The Spectator 1833 (BMD announcements - Marriages)
"On the 7th February at Woolpit, Suffolk, the Rev L.F. Page, third son of Samuel Page Esq of Dulwich, in the county of Surrey [sic], to Susannah E Cobbold, only child of the Rev Spencer Cobbold, Rector of Woolpit"
So maybe not all the Page lines were that glued to Woolpit?
You might also search books.google using the 2 terms   page woolpit    - you might glean some more info that way, but don't take the data (eg dates) given in the Google results for gospel - they'd have you believe the year of LFP's marriage was 1936...
Also searching books.google using    luke flood page woolpit reverend    is worth a try.

Sorry i can't help more, but you might find something of use.

There is a transcription of the parish records for Woolpit online which might be useful for you:

My family interest in Woolpit is Blo(o)mfield so if you have any in your tree I would be interested to hear.

Hi Kayleigh

Thanks for taking the time to get in touch.  This sounds fascinating!

I will contact my friend and get back to you when I have a reply. If this proves to be the correct family, maybe you could exchange private email addresses to follow this up?

Chat soon
