Walmsley Street, Widnes (Prescot Registration District)
« on: Thursday 17 May 12 18:48 BST (UK) »
Hi, never sure where to put inquiries about Widnes that date back to before the boundary change, so hoping that Lancashire RCs can help.

I'm unable to find Walmsley Street, Widnes in the 1901c.  I have a death of Bridget Daley on 26 July 1897 at 4 Walmsley Street and I wanted to see if the Daley family (probably only Christopher b1856 Ireland) might still be living there, as he was 'in attendance' when his mother Bridget died.  I haven't been able to find Christopher after this date.

Hope you can help.

1901 census 4 Elizabeth St Widnes

Christopher Daley is a boarder at this house along with a number of others he's 46 and a chemical labourer. It does sat born Widnes but it looks as if the enumerator has just dittoed down the page.

The other Daley's who show up in Widnes of a similar age are

Joseph bn 1841 Ireland chem lab at 1 Moon St
Patrick born 1845 cooper 16 Moss St
John bn 1847 Ireland boarder at 16 Barn St a chem lab

Thanks Gibel :)  Somehow must have missed that ::).  I've sent off for a Death Cert for a Christopher Daley in 1917, Prestwich (who would be about the same age) so am keeping my fingers crossed that the informant was a wife or someone related.

Patrick born 1845 Bullock Hill, Kings County is one of my relatives, lived in St Helens before moving to Widnes!

Hi Antonio111, since my original post I found out that Christopher's dad was Walter (a name that the extended family use through the following generations).  He died just after arriving in Lancashire and I'm pretty confident the family were from the Athenry area of Co Galway.

Good luck with your own research.

Thanks Steve, hope your eyesight is better than mine! (I just blame it on those energy saving bulbs)  Must source a bigger map to compare where that was and the other addresses the the Daley's and Cunningham's lived in before moving to St Helens.
