Sorry! Can't find Robert in 1841, 1851 or 1861 censuses?

Looks like you might need to purchase that marriage certificate, to find who Robert's father was?

If you Google 'Cambrian index' you'll come to the search page for the Cambrian newspaper which was printed in Swansea.

Enter just 'Curran' as your search term and you'll see references to a lot of stuff about Swansea Curran's; some of them seem to have been quite naughty!

Did you ever find out more about Robert Curran?  One Census - 1901 - gives his birthplace as London, though the 1891 census gives Oxford St. James.
The other Swansea Curran's go back to Samuel Worrell Curran born Glasgow 1810 - he married Harriet Blackwell in Liverpool - and Samuel's father was William Curran who married Agnes Laurie.   Very strange that we cannot find Robert or his family earlier than 1881 - Where was his wife Mary Anne and son William John in 1871?    William John was 16 in 1881 so should be somewhere in 1871.
That marriage certificate may be the only way to find out who Robert was and where he was born.
