Thanks for the links! But would the St Andrews link be better placed elsewhere, St Andrews is in Fife I think, not Kincardineshire.  Phil.

Kincardine is in Fife I think, but Kincardineshire is the old county to the south and west of the city of Aberdeen that takes in Stonehaven and the Deeside towns of Banchory, Aboyne and Ballater...

St Andrews is indeed in Fife , however the site does contain photographs of Kincardineshire
(Site search "Kincardineshire")

I believe Kincardine was part of Perthshire in the past but now may well be in Fife , not to be confused with the other Kincardine in Ross & Cromarty(or is that now Inverness  :-\ )

Quote - Has Kincardineshire officially ceased to exist?

I'm afraid it has!  Kincardineshire disappeared into "Kincardine & Deeside district" of Grampian region in the 1970's, then when Grampian region disappeared, we're now left with Aberdeenshire. More's the pity!

A St Cyrus loon!

Ross and Cromarty is now part of Highlands and Islands...!    Kincardineshire is now part of Aberdeenshire.  Personally I still use the old names as a postal address, I'm in Banffshire (which became Banff and Buchan and now Aberdeenshire!).

No, St Andrews isn't in Kincardineshire!  ;D  Sorry if I confused you all.

Perhaps the link could be added to Resources for other counties too, as the Photo Archive has images from all over Scotland. I put it in here because it is a resource that few people seem to know about, and they want to encourage people to make use of the collections. At a talk by the Archivist he said that much is still to be catalogued, so even if you can't find what you want online it is worth asking.
