The 99 pounds charge is a standard fee payable for any work to be carried out as an 'extra'.
(Examples are things like additional phone points and moving TV/modem connections)
Extra phone point could be done by using a phone extension kit @ 10pounds.

Not sure how easy it is with the SH but are you able to change the channel of the signal? If you have other houses nearby with virgin/other internet companies then if there are all on the same channel it may cause problems with your signal.
When I started to have my problems I downloaded a program by Metageek called Inssider which detects the channels of everyone around you, useful to determine which channel to change to.
Webb (Sussex), Barham (Sussex, Norfolk/Suffolk), Day (Somerset), Rowett(Somerset, Cornwall), White (Leighlinbridge), Deane (Roscommon), Quinn (Roscommon)

Swebby. Ive just tried that Inssider & it only shows 3  users. 2 of them are on Channel 6+10 & i'm on Channel 11

Even though both would be connected to your "troublesome" router,
if you have a laptop and a desktop, unless your desktop is wireless,


install it (inSSIDer) on your laptop.     ???  ::)

Just done a test to my local server using desktop (XP) and laptop (Windows 7).
Desktop 20.47 down 1.03 up.
Laptop 20.39 down 1.12 up
Wireless router adjacent to desktop, laptop used 15metres away (in garden).

Ive just done a few speed tests this morning

1 - Download 1.67 Upload 1.03
2 - Download 3.32 Upload 1.02
3 - Download 0.77 Upload - Timed out

They were done within 20 minutes

Hi Brian. No there is only me & Hubby & neither of us download much. I do transcribing & sometimes need to upload an image to the site to get help with & it wont even do that. The images are about 2000kb & as for photos on the Photobucket, Facebook, Flickr ect. Forget it!!
I tried to phone virgin this morning & waited nearly 30 minutes listenig to  C*** music before I gave up  ???
