I think that their first children Catherine and Mary Ann were born 26 September 1870 in Dundalk, Louth, but I cannot find a marriage for Mary and Philip. I think that Mary Keenan was from Louth, born in 1852, her parents John and Eliza. It is thought that Philip's father may have been William McAlarney, a tailor.

seems to be three children in the extracted records for this couple :

  Catharine / 26 Sep 1870 / Page 773 / Dundalk district
  Mary Ann / 26 Sep 1870 /  "    " / Dundalk district
  unnamed female / 01 Oct 1875 / v 18 p 211 / Co. Fermanagh

The Fermanagh birth has father's first name as Phil - but a good match..

I'm not seeing any good matches for the marriage at the moment on the BMD Index - Mc surnames can be difficult. Maybe it was recorded as McLarnon, McLernon etc...

Thank you.

They can be difficult indeed! :)

I think I have found his death registration - Philip M'Allarny, age 57, registered Apr-May-Jun 1890, Lisnaskea district.

The 1881 edition shows a Phillip McAlarney, Tailor at Maguire's Bridge - near Lisnaskea

I was going to post the BMD references for one of the births so you could confirm that the father of Catherine and Mary Ann was a Tailor, but having difficulty locating the entry. The extracted records are based on civil registers and both Catherine and Mary Ann should appear with the page 773, and presumably Dundalk district - but nothing shows up for the surname in the district.

found one eventually... had to search by year, firstname, district and not use the surname... it's recorded as M'Alarley, could be something similar happening for the marriage search

  Name: Mary Ann M'Alarley
  Registration district:   Dundalk
  Event type: Birth
  Year: 1870
  Volume:   17 / Page: 773

see : https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYYN-L24

and Catherine : https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYYN-L2W
