MAHER ... BALLINSTICK
« on: Sunday 03 June 12 13:01 BST (UK) »
PATRICK MAHER married JUDITH GUILFOYLE on 12th October 1863

[I think, but am not sure ,  Judith Guilfoyle (Guilfoil, Kilfoyle) was born 11th December 1840 in Freshford.{ spelling can vary}
Her parents  Michael Guilfoil and Catherine Walsh]

They had a family of eleven.

Bridget who was born 14-11-1863.
Patrick who was born 08-06-1865.
Mary. (Patrick's twin)08-06-1865.
Catherine.who was born 28-01-1868.
Ellen. who was born.19-06-1869.
Johanna. who was born 10-06-1871.
Margaret. who was born 03-06-1873.
William . who was born 30-06-1874.
Ann. . who was born 02-12-1876.
Rose. . who was born 12-06-1879.
Elizabeth.who was born 12-06-1879.
Rose and Elizabeth also twins.

( IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THESE DATES ARE BAPTISMAL DATES AND NOT BIRTHDATES AS THE INFORMATION WAS RECEIVED  FROM CHURCH RECORDS )

Bridget Maher was my Great Grandmother. I am  interested in finding some information on her mother JUDITH GUILFOYLE. (my great, great grandmother).
Anne Maher  (02/12/1876 )  married  ...     ? ..  St. John.

This   picture of Rose Maher, (my great grand aunt) , standing at the front door of a house with a small child of maybe 2/3years at her side.   It could have been taken from about 1929 onwards  (just guessing)

Any information  would be welcome.  Am trying to  broaden the info. that I have.

Hi Aislinn - I've been able to few church records in the Parish priest's houses for my own relations, and they are baptismal dates..the birth usually took place within the week before. If you know where all the children were born, you should be able to send away to GRO in Roscommon for a copy of their birth certs - a genealogy/research cert costs €4.

Rootsireland.ie gives Judith Guilfoyle to be born 1840 in Freshford to Michael Guilfoyle & Catherine Walsh. There was also a John b. 1843. Have found that Michael married Catherine in 1838 in Freshford also.

This is from Ancestry in Ireland's Civil Registration Indexes:
Name:    Edmond St John
Date of Registration:    Jul-Aug-Sep 1902
Registration district:    Urlingford
Volume:    3
Page Number:    457
FHL Film Number:    101260
Records on Page:
Name
Edmond St John
Kate Stokes
Anne Maher
Johanna Webster
Thomas Webster
Thomas Burke

I cross-refrenced it with records on rootsireland and found the marriage in Kilcooley - her father's name was Patrick Maher - you will have to buy a full subscription to view the actual record :-) I think this is Edmond St.John on the census - is a widower http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Tipperary/Ballyphilip/Curraheenduff/837952/

Hope this helps
Annie
The surnames, which I am interested in are; Maternal side: Ryan, Kevin, Grant, Grady, Gleeson, Walsh, Dwyer, Paternal side: O' Dwyer, Woodlock, Rochford & Britton - all in Tipperary; and Kelly and Hoynes in Laois.

Ryan, Campbell, Luttrell, Grant, Grahame, Bainbridge and Brown in Queensland, Australia

Tighe in Victoria, Australia.

Grant in Philadelphia, Sullivan and Penny in New York; and Britton in Connecticut

I am  thinking,  the  child in  this  picture  with  Rose Maher, if  still living, would be 80 years + ..  It's a  long  shot,  but  there must be decendants   of   Rose, or   him/her  out there somewhere...  Would  love  to  know ....

A lot of images of Civil Certs are online now, you may find something there. Marriages for the children perhaps.
For example here is Rosalie and Eliza birth certs
