She wrote it was a 3 big old houses knocked into the nursing home and was closed around 1935/37 time as it was not really fit for purpose being on so many floors and without a lift.

The last announcement referring to the Nursing Home is in the Sunderland Daily Echo and Shipping Gazette - Thursday 14 July 1938 of a birth on July 11th. The houses in Mowbray Terrace were renumbered, in the 1914 Directory they are numbered 1 to 4 from Toward Road, the same houses are numbers 17 to 23 from Toward Road on the later map.

Thanks Stan.
So maybe either address could be right.

Someone on a post to  me said they used to work at the Employment Exchange at 19-21 Mowbray Terrace and that it had formerly been a Nursing Home.
