Hi lincee and welcome to Rootschat. ;D

From your information it would be extremly difficult to know when either died.

Looking at just the BDM's it seems they may have lost lots of infant children and Emma herself may have perished in 1856. If you could give us some extra information as to the parents and possibly her and his ages it will help.

Hi Neil,

Thanks and yes this is my first message.  I am seeking this information for a friend.

Their children were:-

Sarah born 06 May 1836 Richmond, NSW, Australia V1837832 21/1837 or V1837426 157/1837.  She married James William Somerfield/Summerfield 17 Oct 1853 Registered at Church of England Armidale, St Peter's Ref: NS - V1853538 39C/1853 but their children died Yass, Sofala, Young and Murrumburrah.

Robert born 1838 V18553382 42B/1855.

Edward born 1840 married Jane Chambers 1864 Young NSW.  I am guessing Edward died 09 Oct 1926 Murrumburrah, NSW, Australia Ref: 20270 - inscription on headstone - Inscription for Edward Taylor Cemetery: Young General
Family Name: Taylor
Given Names: Edward
Birth Date:
Death Date: 9 Oct 1926
Age: 86y
Remarks: son/James & Emily; h/Jane; father
I note mother's name given as Emily and not Emma so speculating.  This family seemed to live in the Young, Murrumurrah and Harden area.

William Taylor born 1843.

Catherine Taylor born 1845 V18451375 33A/1845 married James Birch 1864 Young NSW.  Catherine died 27 Jun 1923 Young, NSW, Australia Ref: 8119.
Young Cemetery Index -
Birch,  Katherine died 27 Jun 1923 age 77y dau/James & Emily; w/James Anglican - See photograph of headstone on internet - Headstone inscriptions Young Cemetery.
I note mother's name given as Emily here also and not Emma so speculating.
This family also seemed to live in the Young area.

John Taylor born 1855 V18553382 42B/1855.

I am still working my way through the families of these children.

Cheers

Welcome from me too

Do either of the two Early Church Records give you info about their marital status ... Bachelor/Spinster or Widow/er ?

Have you checked the NSW State Records ONLINE indexes for either of them?

Were they born in NSW or did they come across the seas and if they came from overseas DO you know when?  I ask this as on NSW death certs it gives you How Long in the Colonies as well as the details re parentage and their own marriage and the children of the marriage AND where buried

Cheers JM ADDING edited for spelling! LUS Emily v Emma I agree while it could be speculative I find these were Interchangeable in that era

Emma Barden arrived on "Canton" 1835 - "Single and Free"  Elizabeth Rushen
Familysearch:-
Principal's Name: Emma Barden
Estimated birth year: 1816
Age in years: 19
Native place of Principal: , Middlesex,
Ship: Canton
Date of arrival: 08 Sep 1835
Occupation - housemaid
Employed as nursemaid by Mrs Bell - Bellmount.

I am not able to establish which James Taylor amongst NSW BMD indexes.

Marriage solemnized in the Parish of Richmond, County of Cumberland No 193 - James Taylor and Emma Barden both of this parish married in this Church by banns with consent of all concerned 15 October 1840.  James Taylor could sign his but Emma (X) mark.  Henry I Stiles Chaplain and Thomas ?Regan and Jane ?Wall (x) her mark were witnesses.

Baptism for Sarah 4 June **1837**, born 6 May 1837 - parents James and Emma Taylor of Richmond.  James occupation "dyer".  Henry I. Stiles Chaplain.

When Sarah Taylor married:-
Marriage Extract
Extract from the Register of Marriages solemnized in the Parish of St. Peter Armidale - Anglican Parish in the District of New England in the year 1853.
Page 32 Number 124
James William Somerfield of Sydney Bachelor and Sarah Taylor of this Parish spinster who married in this Church by Licence with consent of James the father of Sarah this seventeenth day of October in the year 1853 by me Henry ?????? This marriage was solemnized between us James W. Somerfield and Sarah Taylor in the presence of James Taylor of Sydney and Emma Taylor of Sydney (Emma signed with (X - her mark).  A true copy Henry ????Officiating Minister.

After that not sure what happened to James and Emma Taylor.

Maybe nothing but there are two Bardens living at Middlesex in 1841 census.

Jane b 1815 and Thomas b 1817. This family is from Ireland originally.

A transcript of DC for Emma Taylor 1856 may yield something.

Hi,
I have just started my search down the Edward Taylor / James Taylor & Emma Barden, line and was wondering, did anything come of the search for James & Emma's birth and death records?
