Yes, I know that he's not on the 1911 Census.

If you knew he wasn't listed in 1911 census why did you put "disappeared ca. 1912" in the title? is there other information to suggest he remained in Ireland until 1912 or later?

Trying to do too many things at once, I initially forgot that he wasn't on the 1911 Census!  It's more accurate to say that he disappeared in the early 1900s so I have changed the title.  Sorry for the confusion.

Sorry this posting is 4-yrs behind the last one ... but ....I just came across this thread whilst trying to cross-check movements of "the other Denis Harley" ... the one that isn't Zorbo77 / Owen isn't looking for. I'd love to explore family notes since "the other Denis Harley" was my Great Uncle in the same way as Zorbo77's Denis Harley was his Great Uncle and Zorbo refers to a connection between them.
Also keen to find out from DerryLass how she got info about my Denis in the US.
If either of you still getting alerts, pls let me know.

Welcome to Rootschat. From looking at Derrylass' 1st post on this thread it looks like the U.S. information can mostly be found at www.familysearch.org (free)

Thanks for the welcome .... and the speedy response.
I have Denis' US immigration details OK and also those of his younger brother, Charles, in 1922 stating his destination as his brother Denis in Wiltsburg (Wattsburg?) PA. But, sorry to say, can't work my way around familysearch.org or anything else (as of right now!) to track movements within the US ..... which is why the source of Derrylass' info is of interest.

Also interesting that Derrylass has info that my Granddad Paddy crossed into USA fm Canada in 1910. I have it as 13th Nov fm Winnipeg to Pembina, ND, and then on to Butte, but that comes from family docs.

I'll keep going with forays into the past and I'll welcom all more experienced hints-and-tips

Many Thanks, aghadowey!
The Patrick Harley crossing into USA is definitely my granddad, though birthplace transcript should say Rannyhual. I'm learning more and more about the many ways that people and place names can be spelled and interpreted/transcribed from old docs. I just appreciate the efforts of the people who have been doing it all.
I'll go digging further myself once I get my head around the best way to search the site.
I know little/nothing of Denis so your link and Derrylass' original reference are great starters for me.
Best Regards
