I to am looking for McKenna’s who came from Ireland.  From where in Ireland, I know not.
My Great-Grandmother, Catherine McKenna, came over to England from Ireland in the 1840’s and lived with her sister, Margaret McKenna and Margaret’s husband Bernard Hughes in Birkenhead.  In 1854 Catherine married my Great-Grandfather, William Taylor, who also came from Ireland, in Liverpool, and eventually settled in Rochdale, where she died in 1896.  Catherine’s father was Richard McKenna, who was a Corn Dealer, possibly in Dublin.

Hi Tina,
Unfortunately, we still have no information about any of our McKenna's. There were several in Drumlish, County Leitrim. Many settled in Rockland County, New York. I did a search for you on F.A.G. for McKenna born before 1900 in Ireland. You can see the results here:

Hope this is of some help. I will post McKenna information when I know more. Best regards!

She may be their sister.

Yes, we also think this Mary might be Patrick's sister. The links did not open for me but I found the welcome video here very encouraging: https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/2016-family-history/welcome
Was at this site many years ago, but I see they have made leaps and bounds, so I will get started with registering, opening links, searching, etc. soon. Thanks so much for your help!

Or save typing your name each time and just put in Initials!  I just put any 2 letters in...  ;D

Got it! Did birth, death, marriage searches for McKennas, Quigleys and Armstrongs in Tobercurry/Tubbercurry and Sligo to look for possible ancestors of Patrick's wife, Mary Armstrong. Found NO McKennas in Tubbercurry...so they are probably from the Leitrim side...

Thanks Hallmark and Sinann!

hi, not posted anything for a while but just discovered that Catharine Quigley and John McKenna had a daughter called Maryann, who was born in 1856. I'm wondering if Catherine is the sister of James Quigley who was married to Mary Leitch, as Maryann was his mothers name. Does anyone have any information on Catherine which may help my search?

Apologies. Earlier in the thread I explained Catherine was baptised in Leitrim. I assumed people would Know this was in Ireland where she was born.
