Hi Curtis,

I went to the library the other day and checked the baptisms for the parish of Greenham up to 1840 ( Newbury Library only has this parish up to 1840) and didn't find a baptism for William Benjamin Morgan.

I did find a baptism for a William Morgan in 1816 in the parish of Speen, father William Morgan.

I noted that on the marriage certificate for Harriet Nailor & William Morgan, the witnesses were Catherine Nailor and Henry Nightingale. There is a marriage for a Henry Nightingale and Catherine Nailor in Newbury, Dec Q 1842 volume 6 page 377 and in the 1871 census a Henry & Catherine Nightingale (c1816 Midgham) in Berkshire.

I took the  opportunity of a lift to Reading today and went to the Berkshire Records Office and did a little research for you.

Baptism:
Church: St Mary Speen Newbury
 Date:2nd September 1838
Name:William Benjamin Morgan
Father: William Morgan occ:Servant
Mother: Harriet Morgan

As William Benjamin Morgan was baptised in Speen perhaps his father came from Speen.

There were these baptisms in Speen (William Morgan baptism as mentioned above):

Date: 3rd March 1816
Name: William Morgan
Father: William Morgan of Benham Occ: Coachman
Mother: Frances Morgan

Date: 4th January 1824
Name: Frances Morgan
Father: William Morgan Occ: Coachman
Mother: Frances Morgan

Looking in the parish records for Midgham Berkshire (assuming that Catherine Nailor was related to Harriet) I found these baptisms for children of Francis & Mary Naylor/Nailor:

Sarah Naylor
Birth 5th Dec 1799,
Bapt 29th Dec 1799

Hannah Nailor
Birth 8th May 1802
Bapt 7th June 1802

Harriett Naylor
Birth 14th February 1804
Bapt 18th March 1804

William Nailor
Birth 28th May 1806
Bapt 22nd June 1806

Catherine Naylor
Birth 9th March 1809
Bapt 21st May 1809

Thomas Naylor
Birth 21st March 1811
Bapt 5th May 1811

I also found this baptism in the parish of Midgham:

Baptism Date: 11th August 1833
Emma Naylor (illegitimate daughter of Harriet Naylor)

and this Burial:

Date: 12th May 1843
Emma Nailor aged 9

Also these burials:

7th November 1847
Mary Nailor
Aged 76

29th November 1848
Francis Nailor
Aged 82

Regards, Chris

William Benjamine Morgan was born 1838-09-02 so this would mean William Morgan was 16 when William Benjamine Morgan was born?

William Benjamin Morgan was baptised in 1838
William Morgan was baptised in 1816 this would have made him 22years old not 16 when William Benjamin Morgan was baptised

I've found a tree which had a William Morgan and Harriet Taylor but doesn't look like a match.

Still searching for further ancestry.

Just in case you haven't seen these:

Possible marriage??

Francis Nailer & Mary Robins, 1791 in Thatcham (about 3.5 miles from Midgham)

Possible 1841 census living in Channel's Green Thatcham

Francis Nailor aged 70-74
Mary Nailor aged 65-69
George Nailor aged 20-24
Emma Nailor aged 7 (possible illegitimate daughter of Harriet)

On the familysearch website in the 1851 census there is a Harriet Morgan, aged 35,  born Mid? Berkshire, Married, working as a Dairy Woman in Shalstone Buckinghamshire for a Thomas & Eliza Fitzgerald and again in the 1861 census in Shalstone, a Harriett Morgan (Married) born Midgam Berkshire but aged 54 with the Fitzgerald family working as a Laundrymaid.

Also recorded in the 1851 is a William Morgan born c1839, Miclyam (maybe Midgham) Berkshire, Lodger, Gardener's Boy, living in Shalstone with a Charles and Eliza Cording which could be your William Benjamin Morgan. (Previously posted by Milliepede)

In 1901 William Benjamin Morgan and family are recorded living in Hayes Middlesex, registration district being Uxbridge, so a possible death for Harriet Morgan if she moved to be near her son in later life.

Deaths Dec 1867
Morgan    Harriet    aged 64    Uxbridge    3a   21
