There is a Catholic baptism record in Liverpool (St Oswald), 18 Sep 1865, for Frances Gertrude Hardenberg, born 15 Sep 1865, daughter of Francis and Helen (or Ellen - same thing in Latin).

Added: this may be the marriage of Frances' parents:

Marriage, Dec qtr 1864

Francis John HARDENBERG
Ellen Eliza COCKSON

Harry James Davis was born in St Pancras, 1875.
Married Frances Gertrude Hardenberg in 1899, West Ham.
Charles Davis born 1900 Leytonstone, died 1914
Henry Fracis Davis born 1903, Leytonstone, died 1986 Birmingham
Frances Hardenberg Died 1908

Married to Ann Marie Louise? in 1910
Harry Davis born 1910, not sure where.

The mystery is ..it is possible he had another son born in 1911,  Islington with mother Catherine Deburca...but cannot find any records. The boy was named Brendan.

What information do you have to link Harry-Catherine-Brendan?  Is she the Catherine Deburca who appears in the Islington area in the free 1911 census index?

Presumably this is the index entry for Brendan's birth certificate - and given that he was registered as Deburca I'm guessing there are likely no father's details given?

Yes that is Brendans Birth registration.
As far as we know Harry James Davis was his father although on his birth certificate the father was named as Patrick Deburca, mother Catherine Deburca formerly Bennett of 1911 Islington Censu.
Soon after the birth Catherine returned to Ireland, we think.
Brendan was brought up in his early years by Mrs Hardenberg, Harry`s mother in law and later went in to an orphanage.
It is an intriguing web! We are really trying to establish who Catherine was and where she came from...we only have the 1911 census to go on and family stories.

Hi Pollypad,
I hope you are still looking on this site.
I came across it yesterday and Harry James Davis was my grandfather, my father being Brendan de Burca (changed by deed poll from Deburca) and I have a great deal of information on the family.
What you have would have come from the archives of the Archdiocese of Birmingham where my cousin and I spent quite a bit of time. It is not all totally accurate.
Please contact me!!
