Watson's also had a chippie on the Crieff road (same family) on the right hand side (next to the paper shop) as you approach the Dunkeld road We always used to visit on our way home after being at the swimming baths.

33 Hunters crescent was probably about mid way between hunters terrace and the cross roads at Ruthven Avenue.

I'm sure there was a family maybe no 1 who were related to Watson Chipshop over the bridge.....maybe the Drummonds?

I had mentioned the Crieff Rd chippie (as in over the bridge). I suppose anyone not knowing the area wouldn't be able to identify where "over the bridge" was which was the bridge over the railway on Crieff Rd.

Hi Joe,
This is my first posting so hope I get it right. I also lived in "Hunters" at 25f Hunters Crescent until we moved to what was a new scheme at that time about 68 or 69, Wallace Place on the Crieff Road. My Grannie and grandad's from both sides Flynn and Fletcher were all there, as were most of the aunties and uncles, as I recall. Your picture at the Feus Hoose brought back some memories as we used to nick down the steps to get home from Goodlyburn. Was there a cafe attached to the chip shop? and the name Cavellini is ringing bells for some reason, did they own it? I remember a few names that lived in "Hunters" but unsure if I can mention them, I remember a couple of the ones you mentioned, the Elliott's and the McGoldrick's.
There was certainly some lively characters.

I was born in 3c Ruthven Place in 1943.
At the back of our building was the town lade.
My big sister says that also in our close were the names Burnie and McLeod.
We moved in 1948 to the new housing scheme of High Craigie (Moncrieffe).

I lived in Hunters between 1955 and 1964,  and saw it for the last time in 1977.  My memories of the place are fairly vivid and I knew many families. 
I don't know if the author is still interested in this, but if so I may be able to answer some of his questions.  I'll check back for a response.

Bruce, I had Watson connections (origins in Methven) who ran chippy shops somewhere in the area, and in Dundee.  I wonder if they would be the ones you remember?  Do you happen to know the Watson names?

In case anyone hasn't heard, there is a book out about Hunters available from Amazon and other places. It's called "Hunters: Wee stories from The Crescent".

I've only read the first couple of chapters but it's a must for anyone with a connection to the crescent.
