My thinking cap told me that your Matthew Weeks/Weekes would probably have done something else other than having an illicit affair in Cowra. He may have married. :o

With that in mind the only one that seems a possible is Matthew Weeks Marrying in Yass in 1926. However to thicken the plot, there is no birth for Matthew in NSW. I am also unable to discover if this Matthew and wife Nellie had any children? ???

But an electoral role search may turn up their abode after marriage? :P

Marriage reg for the couple in Yass gives Nellie as Nelli M Scott.
There is a death reg the following year for a Nellie M Weekes but because there is no surname for the father I was rather inclined to think this may be this Nellie's maiden name but I can't find a birth of a Nellie M Week*s to anybody.
Nellie M Weekes
1927 New South Wales
Father Francis W
Mother Susan
Registered Annandale NSW
Reg number 18262

There is also a Matthew Weeks departing Sydney 27 Aug 1951 on board the Strathmore. He is aged 48 so born c1903 and he is accompanied by Janet age 40. The address in England is  Birkdale lancashire. matthews occupation is shipbroker.
Nothing to show this is relevant but it is noted :)

Possible Birth of Nellie M Scott

NELLIE M SCOTT:  FATHER, JOHN H. MOTHER, ETHEL M AND SHE WAS REGISTERED SYDNEY. REF# 9854/1907

I am unsure if the death registration of the Nellie Weekes is same one as married 1926?

Neil ???

Doesn't look as if they are Neil, going off the parent's names. Another one bites the dust :)

Certifcates would sort it but rather an expensive exercise. :)

I think some secrets are destined to remain such ::).

Unfortunately just because a Matthew Weeks married in Yass in 1926 about an hour or two drive from Cowra doesn't make him the culprit. :P

But the couple are still a bit of a mystery anyway. If we could find him on an electoral role near Cowra he may have a little case to answer ???

But Paternity is a bit of a stretch :o

Nellie was Nellie Margaret, her mother Florence May SCOTT died in 1948.

Nellie Margaret appears alone on electoral rolls from 1930 at Wagga Wagga.

Hi,

May I ask a direct but rhetorical question, please  ....  Can you place your family in Cowra around the same time as Matthew may have been there?  Were they "in town" or on property out of town?

I am happy to look through various offline records for rural NSW that cover the 1920s.  I avoid typing this up into public forums, (I have living rellies who were born just before WWI hostilities broke out, they are very private people) but if you care to send me a PM with some clues I will look further, and try to help.

Cheers,  JM  (born 'on the Lachlan' many decades ago,  ;) )

Hi all, this is The-Game on my new account. After many years of fruitless searching, as of last night I found out through family that Matthew is actually a middle name of the man we're searching for. He's real name is Richard Matthew Weekes/s (not sure on spelling). All I've gathered is he was in Cowra in late 1930 early 1931 as my grandma was born Sep 1931. Also apparently he was in Cowra in 1935 and also 1938. But that's it really. Anyway thanks everyone for all the hard work in helping, and sorry the name was incorrect. :-)
