GOODRICH of Uppingham
« on: Wednesday 11 July 12 16:01 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I'm new to this board and have traced my 2X G.Grandfather William Goodrich b.1800 as coming from Uppingham; he also had a brother named Thomas b. 1798. His parents were Thomas a wheelwright and Elizabeth (maiden name unknown). I am now looking for a marriage for Thomas and Elizabeth and then their dates of birth & death. I know that Thomas (father) died before 1839 when William married his second wife in Shoreditch but I have not yet confirmed the date of death
Any help will be very much appreciated.

Have you considered the marriage of Thomas Goodrich to Elizabeth Wix
22nd August 1796 at All Saints, Weasenham, Norfolk from familysearch.

Looks as though banns may have been called at Wendham, Norfolk - familysearch have them marrying there the week before   :-\

Hi Trish,
That would be the one because I know Thomas died before 1839 and I've been sent details of an Elizabeth Wix marrying Thomas Goodrich in Norfolk. Splendid work and thank you very much.
What great and speedy detectives you all are on Rootschat!

Hi Veronica,

Thomas Goodrich son of Thomas and Elizabeth Goodrich born 6 October 1797 baptised 14 August 1798  by William Ward.

William Goodrich son of Thomas and Elizabeth Goodrich born 28 March 1800 baptised 8 September 1800  by William Ward.

Both these baptisms were performed at the Congregational Church (Non Conformist) in Uppingham.

Source: Baptismal REgister of the Congregational Church in Uppingham 1785-1837.  Uppingham Local History Study Group publication December 2001 transcribed from the original in the Public Record Office RG4/1604.

Also:
13 July 1812 William Freer and Ann Goodrich both OTP Uppingham were married by licence.  One of the witnesses was Thomas Goodrich.
