HI,

I was wondering what would be a good resource to find out where my ancestors are buried in Lower Slaughter?

Thanks,
Dawn

Hi Dawn,
I do free lookups at Glos Archives and you can find me via Forum, England, Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire Lookup Offers, Gloucestershire Archives & Gloucestershire Family History Society where you can make a lookup request.
Alternatively, just post your data request here.

Hi Dawn - I have looked at my tree - my great aunt Lydia B Day married Cecil George Mosson and moved to LS in 1912 - His parents were Alfred Charles Mosson and Georgina Watson and the generation before John Mosson and Sarah Ann Heath. As I previously said I visited St Marys church LS last year and there are all the graves for the children of Lydia and Cecil and Lydia and Cecil grave but these all date from the 20th century - I was unable to find my grandfathers grave and he died in the 1950's - I left a request and the church warden contacted me, unfortunately the records for the graves have gone to the Glostershire archives but she advised there isn't a complete record of the graveyard - looking back through your posts I see you have a Mosson/Clifford marriage and I have been in touch by letter to a 2nd cousin who was a Mosson and is now a Clifford and she has told me of a long history between these 2 families. The Mosson family have had a long history in Lower Slaughter which is a beautiful old world English village and from my mum who was their cousin I know there is only one member of this family left in the village and he is quite old. I have tried to attach a photo of the church to this post which hopefully you can open Jane

Hi Dawn,
My name is jane, and my family name is Mosson. Yesterday I found my family tree and after searching some sites I came across your message. My tree dates back to 1720!! Richard Mosson married to Mary Clifford. Cecil George and Lydia Day were my great grandparents, their son Albert William was my grandfather. It would be great to speak to you about it. Kind Regards Jane

Hi Jane,

What a nice surprise!   I would love to learn more about our ancestors and exchange information.  Wow - that is great you are back that far.  My emigrant ancestor was James Esau Dowler and his wife, Anna Marie Mosson.  They came over in the 1860s to Wisconsin.
