ENNISKERRY HEADSTONES
« on: Friday 20 July 12 11:42 BST (UK) »
From Memory I think there were researchers interested in Headstones at Enniskerry Church.    I have recently contributed a further 83 headstone photos and text to -

http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/wicklow/photos/tombstones/markers.htm

I hope they help someone with their research

Joyce

Hello Joyce,

I recently discovered that my Great x 3 Grandparents were from Enniskerry and according to the 1901 and 1911 census they were Farmers who had Viscount Powerscourt as a Landlord. There names were Maria Flinn who died in 1909 and Thomas Flinn who died in 1914. I did not find there names in the link provided above but I was wondering if you would have any idea where they might be buried? They were Roman Catholic.

The nearest Catholic Cemetery would be at Curtlestown.  I have that on a long list of places/headstones to record!!    However, it is possible that they might have been buried, e.g. at Deansgrange Cemetery.  There is a Church at Curtlestown.  Perhaps contact the church and ask if you relatives are buried there.    If you have exact dates of death I could ask at Deansgrange for you.

Yes thank you this would be very helpful - the exact dates of death were:

Maria Flinn/Flynn - Mar 27, 1909 Annacrievey, Wicklow

Thomas Flinn/Flynn - Sep 20, 1914 Annacrievey, Wicklow

Anything you could find would be much appreciated.

Annacrievey is very close to Curtlestown, so I would think this would be the more likely place to find the graves of your relatives.   The church is listed on this Website, and if you click on "Contact Us" you could try sending a message asking about burials at Curtlestown.  This is the link -

Let me know how you get on and if you find they aren't there, I will certainly try Deansgrange.   Much more likely to have been buried in Curtlestown.

Hello Joy,

I contacted Curtlestown Church at the link you provided however they have emailed to inform me that they are unable to assist me on this as "unfortunately they do not hold Death Records in the Parish since that time". Would you have any other suggestions on what I can do here?

Regards,
Alan

I am sorry to hear you had this negative reply.  I wonder if they know where the records are held. Perhaps worth asking them.   I checked the National Library list, but nothing there for Curtlestown.

I will also see if I can find out anything about this cemetery.
