Hi

The only matching 1841 entry in Cardiganshire has father as Thomas

When and where did James marry?

Do you know exactly where in Cardiganshire he was born

Carlin (Ireland & Liverpool) Doughty & Wright (Liverpool) Dick & Park (Scotland & Liverpool)

There is an 1851 entry which fits his birthyear living in Henllys but just shown as b Cardigan.   Father John was a labourer though.  Although transcribed as Richards - surname looks more like Richard on the image

All b Cardigan except Anne

John Richards 69 labourer
Anne   39 b Tipperary
John   30
Charlotte   31
James  26
John H?? 5 g/son
Jane H?? 7 g/dtr

James Richards was born in Talybont, according to census1871. The Marriage cert shows: married 19th july 1854 in the Registry office in Aberysrwyth, he was a miner and resident at time of marriage at Staylittle, his father was John Richards a Husband Man, married to Mary Griffiths from Talybont, father John Griffiths also a Husband Man. trying to find where they lived and who they lived with in 1861, 1851 and 1841 . thanks in advance.

Try putting Llanfihangel gennau'r glyn in as place of birth,
1841 census  A James Richard age 15 is a servant at Penygraig in the township of Cyfoethybrenin in the parish of Llanfihangel Geneu'r Glyn
Baptism at LLANFIHANGELGENAUR-GLYN, Bethel Independent
James Richards, birth  04 March 1825, christening 27 March 1825  Parents  John Richards and Ann Hughes.
Do not know if these are "yours" but using Llanfihangel gennau'r glyn   worked for me.
Good luck in finding them

Just a possibility:-
The family quoted for 1851 are not together in 1841,with Anne,Charlotte and an Elizabeth at

1372  19/20  11

and possibly brothers John and James(both miners of approx. the right age),plus a Jane, attached to the family of a William Richard(relative of John senior?) at Penllwyn,LLanbadarn Fawr,Melindwr

1372  9/9  10

Regards
Roger
