I am looking for Alexander who was born 1881, Inveresk, Innerwick, his parents were Alexander Dickson and Elizabeth Scott. Alexander married, this was on the marriage certificate m p h Duncan dom 27/4/1906, her parents were Peter Duncan and Margaret Porteous, I have done searches on s/p, and have looked at the records when I was in Edinburgh recently.

A parent search on the IGI shows 3 possible births to his parents - but not Alexander's

PARENT SEARCH ON IGI

https://familysearch.org/search/collection/igi

Input fathers name and surname and  mothers christian name  (in Scotland - also input mothers maiden name if known)

REGION – select British Isles from the menu

COUNTRY – select Scotland

COUNTY (will appear when you select COUNTRY)  – select All

Click SEARCH

The family are on the 1891 census for East Lothian - do you already have that entry?

is the alexander your looking for from Inveresk or Innerwick two different places. there are about 2,600 Dickson's within a 5 mile radius of Inveresk so with alexander being a popular Christian name. may be difficult to find. do you have any surnames that have M P H that could be used for Christian names
