What happened to Thomas Merriman
« on: Saturday 28 July 12 10:55 BST (UK) »
Hi

Would someone be able to help me with this please.

I have Thomas Merriman (a mariner) who was born in West Boldon in 1767. He married Hannah Brown by license in Bishopswearmouth on the 29th of July 1787. Hannah died two years later in 1789. He then married Caroline Tuxford in Skirbeck in Lincolnshire on the 3rd of October 1792. They had four children born in Monkwearmouth in Durham and Boston in Lincolnshire.
Caroline died and was burried at Boston St Botolph Church in 1804.
The problem i have after this is that Thomas completley vanishes. I can't find nothing else about him or a burial record.
One of his children John Tuxford Merriman married in London. Another Weston Tuxford Merriman (born 1799) also completley disappears.

Any help tracing him would be much appreciated

Thankyou

Hi Rich,
I couldn't find YOUR Thomas MERRIMAN, but I did find the following which may be part of your family tree:-

The thomas you found is the grandson of Thomas. It seems like he just completley dissappeared.

Thanks for looking

Hi

Just a quick thought, being a mariner, could he have been lost at sea?

Hi

A popular BI has:
7 Jul 1832 Thomas Merrimen aged 79, Monkwearmouth, St. Peter, bur. Though this would make his birth date c 1753, perhaps too big a gap.

We have been doing a family tree on the Merriman family from Bolden, Thomas was a brother of John Merriman ( great great great grandfather ) John emigrated to Christchrist New Zealand, your post is the first I have seen on any of his family, can't help on what happened to Thomas but is so nice to see another family member looking, good luck with your search it can be so much fun, especially when another family member pops up.
