Dates are explained  at http://www.csc.liv.ac.uk/~cprdb/Live/v3.6/gindex.html

dated a CPRdb term to indicate the date (qv) associated with a PR or BT record. Dated entries are present in CPRdb in the form ‘YYYMMDD’ and in Notes using the form ‘1YYYMMDD’ where ‘YYY’ is the 3 digit year o mitting  the first ‘1’, ‘MM’ is the two digit month number, and ‘DD’ the two digit day of the month number.

Thanks stanmapstone.  I found it eventually last night.  It's a great resource but so difficult to navigate and interpret...

Don't worry, you're not the only one. I've tried and ended up spending ages "decoding" from that site. I must admit, though what's there seems good, my heart drops when I have to ramble round it for anyone. Fortunately (!) most of mine seem to skirt round Cheshire.
Threlfall (Southport), Isherwood (lancs & Canada), Newbould + Topliss(Derby), Keating & Cummins (Ireland + lancs), Fisher, Strong& Casson (all Cumberland) & Downie & Bowie, Linlithgow area Scotland . Also interested in Leigh& Burrows,(Lancashire) Griffiths (Shropshire & lancs), Leaver (Lancs/Yorks) & Anderson(Cumberland and very elusive)
