« on: Saturday 04 August 12 18:28 BST (UK) »
I am looking for my great great grandfather, the father of my great grandmother, his name was David Davies he resided at Glyncarthen Trelech/Capel Iwan..
My great grandmother was born in Llanwinio. Does that mean he lived there for a while.
Any information regarding, birth, death marriage would be much appreciated.

Hi

There are over 1,800 census entries for the name David Davies in Carmarthenshire so you need to give us more info

What was your great grandmothers name and when was she born?

Do you have her birth cert showing her mothers christian name and maiden name (if she was born after 1837)

Where did you get that information from?

Hi
Thanks for replying.  I had a chat with my mother who's 80 and it looks as if I've been barking up the wrong tree.   My great grandmother was Elizabeth Davies born in Llanwinio in  in 1882. She was not the daughter of David Glungarthen  as according to family gravestones they were Thomas. Her sister Anne /Anna was married to David Glungarthen. I have no idea who my great grandmother's parents were. She also had a brother called Daniel who lived in Pandwrgwn Trelech.  My great grandmother died at St. David's hospital around the 11th of December 1963 at the age of 81.  That's all I Know.

Hi scodadriver

You might have this already but you mention that Anne/Anna the sister of your GG Grandmother Elizabeth Davies  married a David Thomas and I think I may have found the Thomas family who were living at this address Clyngarthen in the Civil Parish of Trelech-ar-Bettws ................

1901 RG13 5116 50 6
Samuel Thomas head mar 70 Trelech Carmarthenshire - Employer - Farmer
Anne wife 62 Trelech Carmarthenshire - Farmers wife
David Thomas Nephew single 36 Conwil Carmarthenshire - Worker - Carter and Horse Ploughman
Sarah Thomas servant single 23 Trelech Carmarthenshire - Gen Serv Dom

I know it's not quite what you are looking for but maybe it will help ..............

Regards

Z :)

Hi

Who did Elizabeth Davies b 1882 marry & when?

Are you now saying that David Davies was not her father as you first thought?

Have you got a copy of her marriage cert which will show her fathers name and occupation.

If Elizabeth married between 1901 - 1911 - you will need to look for her on the 1911 census to confirm where she was born

Neither the 1891 or 1901 censuses have an Elizabeth Davies b 1882 Llanwinio.  The nearest is 1885.  There is a Mary Elizabeth b 1881

Hi

Must be careful here but I think I can suggest for you to look for the nephew David Thomas b1865 Conwil in 1911 it will give you a little bit more to go on ;)

Hi Skodadriver

Duplicate posts cause a lot of confusion and also result in duplicated info being posted and the same questions asked by different people

I will ask the moderator to have a look at all three posts to see whether merging as one topic is advisable etc
