The following census extract shows William BOSWELL (snr) as the older brother of George and Phoenix:

1841STF-1004/10//6/5 Comfort (55) mt.mkr +9

LIN Horkstow bp31/12/1831 Phoenix s/o Viney/Comfort BOSWELL, wandering gipsy & scr.gr

LAN.MAN Gorton Municipal Cemetery br19/3/1923 (99) Phoenix BOSWELL, Gypsy of 20, Nell Lane, Withington

It seems likely that the following marriage is between first cousins Hezekiah’s mother being Luirena, sister of Hope SHERIFF:

STF Leek St Edward m3/3/1895 Hezekiah BOSWELL (23) lab (fa: George – hrs.dlr) = Mariah SHERIFF (19) (fa: Hope – lab)

At the same place is this:

STF Leek St Edward m14/11/1904 MacKintire BOSWELL (21) hkr (fa: William – hkr) = Annie COATES (18) (fa: Joseph – dec’d lab)

William BOSWELL (bSaltry CHE or Hanley STF). The next extract gives a son, William (16) born Buxton DBY. The older William (59) was brother of Phoenix and George as mentioned above:

1881CHE/LAN-3473/55/17 William (59) ch.mkr, Sarah (48) +11

1901CHE-3341/165/46 William (35) gn trav’g hkr, Lucy (32) +6

1911CHE-Stockport, Sch 40, William (56) cutler, Lucy (45) William (20) Timothy (16) George Vernon (15) Esmerelda (11) Ernest (9) Gladys (7) Marcus (2)

STF Ipstones bp17/5/1886 Mackintyre s/o William/Lucy BOSWELL ch.mnd of I

CHE Nantwich pbp18/7/1889 Parthenia d/o William Galey/Lucy BOSWELL, trav, scr.gr

1911CHE-Stockport, Sch 80, Macky (28) scr.gr, Anne (24) Harold (3) Henry (1)

LAN.MAN Heaton Norris Christchurch bp24/4/1930 (b11/4) James s/o Mackintyre/Annie, lab of 11, Longsight St

The following census entries show that the other Mackintyre (age 6 in 1861, age 11 in 1871) was son of George and Luirena BOSWELL. This means William (bc1865) s/o William was first cousin of the the other Mackintyre (bc1855) s/o George:

1861STF-1946/47/20 George (37) tinker & wire mkr, Louisa [née Luirena SHERIFF] (32) +6 [HILL sic]

1871STF-2885/28/21 George (44) ch.btr, Louisa (42) +9 [BOSSHILL sic]

Hi, First post here, I had to register when I saw that My family tree is linked, or so it seems, with yours.
My great great grandfather was Timothy Boswell 1892-1979 whos siblings were, as far as I can tell:
Martha Boswell 1889-
Grimalda Boswell 1891-
William Boswell 1891-
Geroge Vernon Buller Boswell 18-95 -1978
Esmerelda Boswell 1900-
Ernest Boswell 1902 -
Gladis Boswell 1904-
Marcus Boswell 1909
Elvira Boswell 1911-1990

There is also a Parthenia Boswell (1886 -1960) who I cannot tell if she is his sister or sister n law, I have her married to a charles boswell 1883

These are all kids of  William Galey Boswell 1855-1930 and Lucy Boswell (Nee Lock) 1866 19-31

William Galey Boswell seems to have a few siblings that I can tell who are
William Boswell 1841 (this may be a duplicate record with a wrong date)
Sarah E Boswell 1860
Thomas Boswell 1857

William Galey Boswells Father seems to have been William Boswell 1821 -1881 and Elizabeth Boswell 1816 -1881

Hello James,
I have for this family as follows;

Lucy Herring bpt Halton Cheshire 1864 married to William b Saltney Cheshire c1865
Their children;
Mackintyre Boswell bpt Ipstones 1886
Parthenia Boswell bpt Nantwich Cheshire 1889
Grimalda Boswell b Macclesfield Cheshire c1891
William Boswell b Macclesfield Cheshire c1893
George b Macclesfield Cheshire c1897
Esmeralda bpt Buglaton Cheshire 1899
Ernest b Warrington Lancs c1901

Parents of Lucy Herring are Francis Heron and Selina Boswell
Selina is the daughter of Moses Boswell and Esther Sherrif/Smith

Some of the children of Francis Heron and Selina used Herrin/Herring along with their mothers surname Boswell. Hope that makes sense.

My connection to this family is through Moses brother, William Boss/Boswell.
I've got loads more info on this extended family and be am happy to share.

For Charles and Parthenia. Charles b Stockport Cheshire c1879
Charles son of Moses (Timothius) Boswell and Elvira Lovell. Moses (Timotheus) son of William Boss/Boswell.

Hi Thanks for that.
I am now tracking Mackintyre Boswell as well as I believe he married my fiancee's great great aunt Annie Coates. Is Mackintyre definitely the child of Lucy and William?

Any extra information you have on the boswells would be great. I am trying to do my family tree and the boswells are so confusing due to the tendency to all have the same name and marry their cousins!

I remember a family of traveller origin called Boswell in Stafford as a youngster, and it may be their descendants who run an auto parts business in.the town now. The business can be found on Google, so you could try them.

Hi my names Dave and my dads grandad was Macyntire Boswell  grandma Annie Coates
They are in Stockport crem along with my dad Michael Joseph Boswell alias Rogers.
Macky's kids after war gained alias's.

Macky's dad and mum William Galey Boswell and Lucy lock and we think Williams dad and mum Sara mason and William Galey Boswell senior oldest son of viny and comfort Boswell  younger sons Phoenix and George Vernon

These names appear in each generation so Macintyre had brothers George vernon and Phoenix so Buller Boswell is Macyntire's brother also in Stockport.

Macyntire's dad William Galey Boswell was born in Saltney Flintshire hope this is of use
