Taylor Canonbie
« on: Saturday 18 August 12 09:57 BST (UK) »
Hi All,
I have a small tree, for anyone interested, of Taylors of Jocks Hill, Canonbie.
There are some Armstrong, Little, Dalgleish, Elliot, Tyson, and Graham connections.

Hi John,
Jessie b. 1827 Priorslynn Canonbie is my gg grandmother.

All I have garnered so far on the maternal side is that her Mum was Isabella Taylor, and Isabella's parents were James Taylor from Jockshill and perhaps Jannet Purvis?

Jessie came to Australia with her husband George Annand in 1852.

Any information you could share would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,
Leesa

Hi Leesa,
Jessie's birth is listed in the Canonbie OPR:
Jessie daughter of Abel Armstrong flesher [butcher] Priorslynn and Isabella Armstrong his spouse born 12th May and baptized 17th June 1827

Isabella Taylor married Abel Armstrong at Jock's Hill, Canonbie on June 28, 1822 (Canonbie OPR)

Isabella died in 1845 at Westlinton (3 miles s of Longtown) on the 10th August 1845, according to the Carlisle Patriot.
Abel Armstrong, 53, widower, born in Scotland, occupation Butcher, is listed as living on Swan Street in Longtown, Arthuret, with 2 children:
William 24, infirm, and Jannet 22, both unmarried.

Do you have any details of the marriage of Jessie and George Annand?

Kind Regards
John
