I looked in the Kildare Observer last night but didn't find anything.

it's a bit hit and miss though, although as he didn't die at the time of the accident it probably wouldn't make the paper and a fall or kick from a horse wouldn't be uncommon in Kildare or the rest of the country at the time for that matter so probably not thought news worthy.

Ellen's death record is interesting as it most likely identifies the orphanage where all the female children were taken, St Vincent's Female Orphange in North William Street.  It's not clear when the children were placed in the home but we've never been able to find any trace of the wife, Bridget O'Keefe after the 1911 census.

South Dublin Union workhouse records appear to be available up to 1919 and are on one of the fee paying sites,someone with more knowledge of them might read this and advise you.

edited to add he is not buried in Glasnevin
