I have a possible William or Edmund
He married Frances Parsons in 1819 in broadwater

Hi dannibaggaley,

There is an Isaac Ayling baptised at St Mary the Virgin, Aldingbourne, on 2.4.1797.
The record says he is the son of John and Ann Ayling.

That doesn't seem to fit in too well with your idea of his father being either William or Edmund   :'(     but it's the only record for Isaac Ayling in Aldingbourne around that date.

Hope it helps a little. HL
Best wishes HL

Mmmm.....how annoying.

There's been a transcription error somewhere and we don't know which one is wrong!

I'll see if I can find a marriage or other baptisms which will possibly solve things.....get back to you in due course. HL

The family search records say Edmund.....where did you get William from?   :)

SFHG records quite clearly says John but it may well be that one which is wrong as there is no marriage for a John Ayling and Ann.
There is also no marriage for an Edmund and Ann.

There is a marriage at Felpham 19.5.1790 by banns between William Ayling and Ann Faulkner, bach and spinster, both of this parish.

There are also baptisms at Aldingbourne:-
Edmund 20.10.1794    son of William and Ann Ayling
Harriet   20.10.1794    daughter of William and Ann Ayling
Charles   25.12.1795    son of William and Ann Ayling

There are also other baptisms at Aldingbourne
for children of Thomas and Elizabeth Ayling
and children of Richard and Elizabeth Ayling.

Perhaps Isaac is really the child of William and Ann but that makes both familysearch and SFHG wrong   ::) ???

:D   I only noticed the first entry   ::)

If you alter the search to encompass parents names and omit the childs first name it brings up a number of likely results for other children for William and Ann.....mainly on the 2nd page of results

http://www.rootschat.com/links/0qar/

This couple married in 1790 and it's the only likely marriage. Felpham isn't Aldingbourne but isn't many miles away. There was no marriage for a John Ayling or Edmund Ayling so they look the likeliest couple.
Of course the best answer would be to see the baptism records at Lewes because there has definitely been 2 transcription errors which throws it all into confusion.

Good luck. Best wishes HL

Hello Danni & HL

I had a nose at Sussex Online Parish Clerk. They give Issac`s Mum & Dad Edmund & Ann ???

No marriage for them on SMI,unless they married just over the Border
in Hampshire.

The Aldingbourne Parish records are available on CD from Parish Chest
for a few pounds.

I have bought some CD`s from them :) & discovered a Marriage that was`nt on the SMI

Hope this helps

Kind Regards
