there is one thing, if I get this tree sorted properly at least 'my' son Andrew should know which Andrew is which.

I printed out the tree I had last night and let him count all the ancestors who shared his name!
Robertson - Lanarkshire & Ayrshire
Hargreaves - Barnsley
Priestley - Barnsley
Scurfield - Northumberland

;D Tell him that is Scottish ancestry...the repetition of special names! (Don't mention the nightmare of figuring them all out!).

have just checked a few details - definately same family. This Andrew has gone through some professions, obviously able to turn his hand to a few things to bring the pennies in - ironstone miner, coal miner and joiner - all verified on scotlands people and not just ancestry which I know can be dodgy with the transcription.

Though on all those cenus' his year of birth has varied. 1823 - 1829 shown on census, but place of birth remained constant.

I've just realised that this topic is about 3 years old, and crobertson hasn't been signed in for about the same length of time.

I am connected to this family, so have now PMed about my living Robertson and other family connections in New Cumnock!  I also PMEd MonicaL by mistake - I think it's time I went to bed!
