Henry Gould born 1837 Croscombe, Somerset.

Hi the above Henry Gould is my great great Grandfather,  found him in the 1851 Wales census Living in Risca, his surname writtien as Gold. he was married to a Susan Smith of Penhow.

I am looking to find more information on Henry Gould, apparently the Gould family had a pub in somerset. not sure if it was his mum and dad and if it was in croscombe.   Anyway any help would be much appreciated.

Your Henry and Susan ran the pub in 1911. you can then see a picture of the pub as it is today.

Free Reg has a  Henry Gould baptised 5 June !836 @ St Mary The Virgin Croscombe. Parents Isaac (farm labourer) & Ann. Other baptisms to children of Isaac & Ann are William (born22/6/1828) 31/8/1828, Henry 4/5/1831, Mary Ann 8/6/1834, William Isaac 25/12/1838, George (born 3/9/1823) 18/10/1823, Joseph Foxwell 12/4/1813, Ann 15/10/1814, Charles (born 12/8/1816) 22/9/1816, Elizabeth (born 3/6/1819) 27/6/1819. Isaac Gould m Ann Baker 28/12/1812.

Really appreciate all your help, information and also effort in finding the pub as we went on holiday two years ago to search round shepton mallett and only had an old photo to go on, and couldnt find it.

Used to occasionally visit the inn at North Wootton when I lived in Glastonbury years ago, I would say it is slightly nearer Wells than Shepton - out in the sticks as Somerset folk say lol.
