Thomas Nairn/Nairne Family in Clackmannan
« on: Monday 27 August 12 20:21 BST (UK) »
Thomas Nairn married Elizabeth Thomson in 1775 and they had 8 children that Thomas (as Schoolmaster) recorded in the Parish records. New information from 19th century family papers says that Thomas had 2 older sons, Thomas and Peter. They are not in the Clackmannan records and because a handwriting change in the records indicated Thomas began recording in 1768, I think they were born before then. The new information says that all of Thomas Nairn’s sons were in the Royal Navy. Peter died escaping from prison in France (no date but assume during the Napoleonic Wars). Thomas, the oldest, was secretary to Lord Keith and died in London. I would like some ideas about how to use this information to find Thomas Nairn’s first marriage and the birth of his older sons and possibly his parents. Thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have on this matter.
