Sure hope you can help...I AM STUCK
« on: Saturday 01 September 12 10:16 BST (UK) »
Hello. I live in the USA and could really use your help.  This is as far back as I could get with my Kennedy family line (listed below).  From my Grandfather (born in 1904)  going all the way back thru the generations, they all were born, lived and died in Newcastle Upon Tyne; that is until Robert. Other than Robert's parents names of John and Jane Kennedy, I can't find anything to find the CORRECT John and Jane Kennedy.  (I found MANY John & Jane Kennedy's but don't know WHICH ones --if any-- they could be.) Also, other than Robert being born, getting married, fathering William Dixon Kennedy, and dying I can't find anything else on him either.

I would greatly appreciate help on this.
AND...
~Did John & Jane have other kids?
~Did Robert & Harriet have other kids?

Thank you so much. Rhonda Kennedy  ;D  :)

Somehow I don't think the Robert Kennedy death 1849 Glendale is your Robert.

The 1841 Census posted by Doran54 shows Harriet as 'Ind' i.e. Independent, and there appears to be no trace of Robert anywhere - I would suggest that Robert was already dead by 1841 and that as Harriet was 'Independent' in 1841 he had left her provided for.

That said, unless you can find Robert's death before 1841, you can have no idea where/when he was born and he may not even be the son of a John and Jane.

There is a John Kennedy burial at Belford St. Mary in 1795, age 50. Right area and timeframe to be a potential parent for your Robert. May be worth looking more closely at Belford parish transcripts to see if you can find a marriage to a Jane and birth record for Robert and maybe more.

there is a robert kennedy correct age in portsea  portsmouth hampshire he's in the navy
on the 1841 census canot find any other  robert thats a possible match

robert kennedy age 55
 mary kennedy 45
mary ann  kennedy 24
william        "         14
elizabeth      "       12
henry            "  8

do you think being in the navy he might have strayed and had another family as there seems to be no other trace of him?

also came across this john kennedy christened 1742 tynemouth northumberland father william kennedy.

john kennedy marriage to jane patterson embleton northumberland  26 july 1761

If Doran54´s theory is correct then there is a potential burial for Jane at Embleton in 1793.

This seems to be a case of 'clutching at straws' at the moment just because time frames seem to fit.

Unless a positive burial can be found for Robert Kennedy which seems, more logically, to have been before 1841, one can just go round in circles.

I can't find burials for Newcastle upon Tyne 1824-1841 online so perhaps someone else has access to them.   As William born there, and he and his mother still there in 1841, it seems the logical place for Robert's death.

1841 has ages of adults rounded down to nearest 5 years -and does not give relationships
1841 census which Doran posted also shows others living in same dwelling (they could be lodgers -could bbe family -we do not know from census)
1841
Painter's Heugh???
Newcastle upon Tyne All Saints
Harriet Kennedy 50 Ind Yes
William Dixon Kennedy 15 Cabinet M app Yes
Robert Atkinson 45 Shoemaker Yes
Thomas Atkinson 21 Shoemaker Yes
HO107 845 1 32 21

there is also - transcribed as McKennedy - image reads as if it could possibly be M Kennedy
1841
Silver Street
Newcastle upon Tyne All Saints
Robert M ? Kennedy 50 Lab (I =Ireland or could be S = Scotland?)
John Kennedy 25 Lab I or S?
HO107 845 2

There is no definate evidence yet -so we could just be going round in circles

Death cert definately needed
