Hello Rosie and thank you for the information. Yes its the same lady so unfortunately her first engagement didnt work out . Will send for Johns death certificate and it will hopefully hold some clues. Despite there being 4 Mitchell siblings only his sister Sybil Blanche (Jenks) appears to have had a child and unfortunately he died in 1946 .

I wonder if his wife lived with him in Slough, it appears to be a house rather than a business property. As the address for him is the same as given on the 1958 passenger list maybe she is resident there after the war.

In 1937 he is in Reigate with his Mitchell siblings and mother so I am assuming single. But the 1939 return shows him as married but no sign of his wife. So it rather looks like he may have married between 1937-1939 but a search to date has not shown up a likely match. Think I best get his death cert .
