I see on the registration of the parents marriage Esther's name is given as Esther Ellen T Barton. Do you know what the T stands for ?

The images for the marriage and banns are on Ancestry.

For the banns she is down as Esther Ellen Taxford Burton

For the marriage she is transcribed as Esther Ellen Telford Barton although the original does look like Taxford

Her father is William a painter

So the T is either Telford or Taxford and the name may be Burton not Barton
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Hi Davidft

Just to confuse things further the name also appears as Tuxford on some records.

Of the three I think it is meant to be Tuxford but the family name is a bit complicated to follow. (Its a while since I tried to work them all out so my memory is a bit hazy)

Not sure if this thread is still live but Unity Hall was my mother’s cousin and I can probably fill in a few facts if anyone is interested
