DISTRESSING SUICIDE
On Friday last the friends and relatives of Mr. William Ward Cooper, of Hugglescote, were plunged in the deepest distress by his unfortunate death by his own hand. He had been out shooting, and was in apparent sound health-but on his return home he retired to put his gun away, and change his shirt, when the report of fire arms alarmed his family, and announced the dreadful calamity. The immediate cause of his death has been attributed to the annoyance of a discreditable charge brought against him; but we understand there is not the slightest foundation for this rumour-and some difficulties in which he was involved in consequence of disputed county rates is alleged as the more probable cause. An inquest was held on the body on Sunday last, before John Gregory, jun. Gent. the coroner for the district, and a verdict of ''Temporary insanity'' was returned. The deceased has left a wife and two small children
