There are a lot of Hindley people in the area ,
I think you may need to go through your notes ,it is very easy to mix up the families as they do tend to use names over and over again

The will of Joseph Hindley formerly of Newton in Makerfield but late of Winwick with Hulme, both in the county of Lancashire,Yeoman, deceased
who died 16th Jan 1860 at Winwick with Hulme aforsaid
was proved at Liverpool by the oath of William Hindley of Newton aforsaid, farmer son and one of the executors,

possible death registration Warrington March 1860

it may be worth applying for a copy of his full will if there is one and then you can verify if he is the father of your John,
