Hello Peggysmum,
As far as I am aware yours is a different Crook family.  I have never found a link between the two families.  Crook is a fairly common name as I am sure you know. In 1851 your Joseph and Eliza were living at Nottingham Fee, Blewbury.
Our William's family were in the Bucklebury area back to 1775.  I don't know where John circa 1775-1843 came from though, so you never know.

Hello again,
I have Snells from Bucklebury and Bradfield as distant relations by marriage in my family, so there is probably a link there at least.
Which particular ones are yours? I have researched several lines.

Hello Tracey,
Well, I definitely have Charlotte in my research.  However, I have not back further than her parents as yet.  I still have a few loose ends with the Snells.  If we carry on discussing this we do really need to start a new thread or the Crook one will get confused.

I happen to be going over my family tree and saw your post.  My name is Dale Crook and live in Alpharetta, Georgia - my family history goes back to a Eliza Crook in the Melksham, Wiltshire area - any connection?

Hi Dale, thanks for contacting me regarding the Crook family  :)

Unfortunately I have no Eliza Crook in my family tree; Chetwynd Family Tree  :(

The Crooks feature as this was my mother's maiden name.

My research into the Crook family in my tree goes back to John Crook who was my 4 x Great Grandfather (born about 1776, died 1843), who I believe lived in Berkshire for most of his life (birth place unknown) - he married Mary Sellwood in 1804.

I'm happy to help where I can and share any information, would like to know if there was any connection between Eliza Crook and anyone in my tree?

Best regards, Chetters

Chetwynd - Warwickshire & Leicestershire; Crook - Berkshire & Buckinghamshire; Coomber - London; Woolmer (Wollmer) - London & Buckinghamshire; Betts - Buckinghamshire; Seccull - Northamptonshire; Crofts - Warwickshire.

Chetters
Any information would be great - here in the States the Crook name is not so common, but my understanding it is a common name in England.

Any one that has information about the Crook family in Melksham would be great.
Regards,
Dale Crook
