Hi NorrieG,

I have just come across this post and have been trying to find as many headstones of my ancestors as I can, I am in Australia so its hard to get good online info these days on the old stuff.

I am unsure which cemetery my great great great grandmother is buried in but she died in Kirkcaldy, Fife on the 26th June 1897
Catharine Henderson
b 27 September 1815 Dysart Fife
d 26 June 1897 Kirkcaldy

her husband was Captain John Henderson born 22 Nov 1815 in Kirckcaldy Fife but drowned in Australia in 1860.

Parents:
Alexander Henderson
b 1789 Dysart Fife
d 16 June 1861 Abbotshall Kirkcaldy Fife

Maragret McLeod
b 28 Feb 1792 Dysart
d 8 Dec 1865 Abbotshall Kirkcaldy Fife

If you may have any info or photos of these grave stones that would be awesome.

Thanks

Adam

Hi Norrie,

Thanks for getting back to me so quick.

The only info I have on the children is John Henderson being that he is my great great grandfather.

There would be no gravestone for him as he was lost at sea in the Bay of Biscay in the Atlantic Ocean around the 8th December 1886. He was born 17 November 1841 in Fife.
He married Janet Elizabeth Spence in 1865.

Funny story that both John Henderson and John Snr were Naval Captains and both ended up drowning, 1 at sea and the other in a river in Australia.

I have no info on John Snr's parents apart from their names. John Henderson and Catharine Findlay.

Also seems that a Henderson married into another Henderson family.

Janet Elizabeth Spence was born 16 April 1840 in Abbotshall Kirkcaldy and died 27 Nov 1881 Kirkcaldy Fife.

Her parents were:
Thos (or Thomas) Spence b. 1797 Dysart Fife and died 24 Oct 1868 Kinghorn Kirkcaldy Fife.
Agnes Collins b. 1806 Kinghorn Kirkcaldy and died 6 Jul 1862 Abbotshall Kirkcaldy Fife.

Sorry for the long info :) That is all on my mothers side, my fathers side is also from Scotland but up in Wick.

Adam
