SIT: Additional Surnames.
« on: Wednesday 10 October 12 20:41 BST (UK) »
Please forgive me if this is old hat and has been answered many times in the past.  My family make-up seems to favour females over males, e.g. my Dad was one of eight five girls three boys.  Same with my Mum, four children all girls.  What is the advantage, if any, of including the Surnames of all the ladies who married.  Going back to my Grandparents the list seems endless and I don't want to waste the time of anyone by showing a long list of names in which I am interested.
As I said, hope this question has some merit.  Thank you.

I can't see any problem in adding surnames (with locations). Nobody's time would be wasted and it might just produce mutually helpful enquiries.

I do wonder how much use members make of the surname search?

GR2,
Sincere thanks for your comments.  I will add some names and hope for the best.  I check the Surname list from time to time and find it to be quite frustrating checking names which are common, the list seems to be endless.  However, it has taught me not to assume that a name is unusual and may be easy to check, the greatest export from the U.K. over the centuries has been people and when you get to countries like the U.S. with such a huge population, uncommon names become common in no time at all.  Also, family history has become such a popular hobby, there is so much out there to check.
Thanks again.
