Does anyone know if there are records of school enrolments kept from the 1870s. I am specifically seeking any records of children with the surname WHITTINGTON at the West Christchurch School in the late 1870s.  I have found digitised records of newspapers with the occasional reference to presentations made in December 1878 but I was wondering if records existed listing students in classes and any extra information such as parents of students.  Any assistance at all would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Althea, Thanks for your reply. The childrens names are, in order of age from eldest down; George, Kezia, Ellen Jane, Clifford, Walter, Margaret and William.  All are Whittingtons.  Ellen Jane passed away in 1881.  Thank you for the other places to search.  Ian

I am descended from Daniel, via William who came to NZ

I have some info re this family, but I would love to have verification of surname of Jane, Daniel's wife
I cannot find primary source for her.
